Elliott Whiteway
Independent projects & experiments

Projects and
explorations.

I design and build software to help people learn, work together, and put their ideas into practice.

These projects grew out of my work, my family, and questions I wanted to explore.

Selected work

Ideas put into practice.
Construction · CollaborationIn use

Carbide List

A shared punch list for builders, crews, and homeowners. Photos make the request clear, English and Spanish support the same workflow, and completed work stays separate from work the builder has verified.

Games · LearningLive

Tiny Rivals

A game world I’m building with my family, with places to explore and mathematics to discover. Times Tower grew from wanting my kids to feel at home with numbers, and paying attention to what happened when they played.

Movement · Native appsIn development

TreadCal

An iPhone and Apple Watch companion that makes an indoor climb visible. It turns treadmill speed and incline into vertical gain, with a conservative calorie estimate and room to understand its assumptions.

Reading · VoicePrototype

Threadmark

A reading prototype for the questions a good article brings up. Listen, follow a thought, and return to your place, with the author’s words kept distinct from the conversation.

Connection · RealtimeLive platform

Carbide Spaces

A place to talk and work together. Calls, notes, and shared activities stay close, so people can move between conversation and the work they share.

Language · Critical readingArchived experiment

The Generative Mind

An experiment in reading more attentively: noticing where a passage opens a question, narrows the possibilities, or asks you to accept a conclusion. The analysis gives you an interpretation to examine and disagree with.

Further explorations

Ongoing & archived
Personal geneticsClosed

Genetic Playbook

A closed experiment in making raw DNA data easier to explore. Analysis ran locally in the browser, with plain language explanations alongside the underlying findings and references.

Food · DiscoveryPrototype

DeelishDish

A restaurant discovery prototype built around a practical question: what should I order? It gathers what diners say about individual dishes and keeps the reviews behind each suggestion within reach.

Personal systemsOngoing

Beany / Elliott OS

An ongoing effort to make an AI collaborator useful across days and projects. Readable notes preserve decisions and context; clear boundaries define what the tools can do and where my judgment is needed.

From the notebook

Smaller experiments & earlier work
Wave

An earlier reading interface with conversations attached to individual paragraphs.

RSVP Reader

A webpage and Chrome extension for exploring faster reading.

The Night Shift

An illustrated science book prototype for children about sleep. The archive records a story draft and visual development.

Agent Development Lab

Experiments examining how agents work, review, and learn, with attention to the limits of the evidence.

Narrative portfolio

An earlier portfolio built around a scrolling story, connecting animation to the idea being presented.

Voice analysis

An audio experiment combining transcription with tone signals.
